When Mr Monkey was approaching Higher Poynton he noticed that the design of the bridges had changed. Extensive mining in the area caused subsidence and the bridges were designed so that the walkway could be easily removed and the bridge's height restored by building up the brickwork. A little further on he realised he could just about see Lyme Cage, the hunting lodge in Lyme Park.
