Mr Monkey in London, 12th February

"I think I'll stick to bananas, thank you very much"

Mr Monkey scampered through Hackney and went into Hackney Museum to learn about the history of Hackney, by theme rather than straight chronology. He examined an old model showing St Augustine's Tower when it was still part of a church, and ventured into a recreation of a traditional pie and mash shop where he learnt more than he really wanted to know about eating eels. He also found out that Hackney was the best place in Victorian London to find an Indian nanny if you were taking your family to India.

You can read about the Hackney Museum at the Hackney council website.
