"They're slightly spooky fish"

Mr Monkey looking at Ikthus by Colin Reid Mr Monkey looking at the reliquary of the Poor Clares

Mr Monkey was fascinated by Ikthus, a font cast in glass by Colin Reid. Mr Monkey was impressed by the ghostly fish that seem to be swimming inside the glass. Then he looked at the Poor Clare's reliquary. This was made 1551, probably by the King's goldsmith who was rather wonderfully named Affabel Partridge, but no-one seems totally sure whether it was made as salt cellar or as a reliquary to keep bits of saint in.

You can read Colin Reid at the Colin Reid Glass website and about the reliquary at the V&A website.
