Mr Monkey goes from Quay to Sea, 14th December

"It's interesting seeing a bridge from a different angle"

Mr Monkey was sure he was on the right boat now that it was heading downriver. He looked up at the High Level Bridge, designed by Robert Stephenson and opened in 1849 (though trains could cross the Tyne on a temporary bridge built in 1846), then looked at the Swing bridge. This opened for pedestrians on 25 June 1876, but it was three weeks before anyone thought of taking a ship past it.
