Mr Monkey at the Musical Museum, 2nd November

"I hope the Wurlitzer can rise out of the floor"

In the next gallery Mr Monkey looked at a Welte Vorsetzer. This was a device which was pushed up against the keyboard of an ordinary piano and would play the piano in the style of famous pianists*. It runs off 50 volts DC produced by an electrolytic rectifier. Upstairs Mr Monkey inspected the 1932 Wurlitzer from the Regal Cinema in Kingston-upon-Thames. It's used for regular concerts now. His tour finished, Mr Monkey scampered back out into Kew Bridge Road.

* Assuming they had recorded a piano roll, of course.
