Mr Monkey trotted along the gun deck. In the middle he found the galley, where sailors either too old or infirm to do anything active boiled the food for each mess table. He realised that the iron supports between the decks near the capstan, which reminded him of ones he'd seen in cotton mills, could be removed so that the capstan could actually be used.
