Mr Monkey aboard HMS Warrior, 30th August

"I expect they tried to avoid using the heaviest anchors, then"

Mr Monkey took a last look at the ensign flying at the stern then scampered down a ladder to the main, or gun, deck. He went into the forward section, the cable deck, to look at the anchor chains. HMS Warrior's four heaviest anchors weighed 5.6 tons each, and it took 176 men working a capstan for four to five hours to raise one.
