Mr Monkey in Portsmouth, 29th August

"I don't think it's natural, you know"

Mr Monkey watching a frieghter leave Portsmouth Mr Monkey watching a ferry arriving at Portsmouth

Mr Monkey found some stairs up to the roof of the Round Tower, so he scampered up them. He looked across the mouth of the harbour at Fort Blockhouse. The fort was originally built in 1495 and was expanded in the 17th and 19th centuries. For most of the 20th century it was HMS Dolphin, the home of the Royal Navy submarine service who built the Submarine Escape Training Tower. Mr Monkey decided he wasn't interested in anywhere you can be 30 metres under water and above ground level at the same time, and decided to stay a while watching ships in the Solent. Some were leaving Portsmouth and some were arriving
