Mr Monkey at Southsea Castle, 28th August

"It looks low and squat from this side too"

Mr Monkey followed a path around the outside of the castle and got a look at the counterscarp gallery blocking the way into the ditch around the castle. Then the path took him along the seafront past the east auxillary battery. Built in the 1860s to provide more firepower for the castle, the gun positions were landscaped in the 1960s to give visitors somewhere to sit.
