Mr Monkey at Southsea Castle, 28th August

"Only a bad monkey would climb over that fence"

Mr Monkey had a look at the lighthouse, added to the castle in 1820. The weather vane is supposed to look like a fox, in memory of Admiral Fox, but Mr Monkey wasn't convinced. He peered over the thick parapet of the ramparts to see the auxillary battery built in 1850 when Britain was expecting Napoleon III to invade. You can only get to the battery by going through a little door in the the counterscarp gallery, or possibly by climbing over a fence.
