Mr Monkey set off to investigate Josefov, the Jewish ghetto named after Joseph II who removed many religious restrictions with his 1781 Edict of Toleration. Mr Monkey looked down Maiselova towards the Jewish town hall, then scampered along to admire its clocks. The lower clock has Hebrew numerals and apparently goes anti-clockwise, though Mr Monkey didn't wait to find out if it really did. The Jewish buildings in Prague survived the Nazi occupation largely because Hitler wanted somewhere to set up An Exotic Museum of an Extinct Race after he'd had the Jewish population murdered in the death camps.
