The first gallery explained the birth of Communism and how it came to rule Czechoslovakia. Mr Monkey examined largish statues of Marx and Lenin while he found out that the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (CCP) was established in 1921, went underground during the Nazi occupation, and, with 40% of the vote, won the 1946 election. Then on 25th February 1948 the CCP staged a coup d'etat which ended Czech democracy for 40 years.
