When Mr Monkey had thoroughly examined the interior of the 14th century church he went to look at a water tap in an alcove in the outside wall of the church. This is the modern end of a 1376 extension of the water conduit system of a medieval Carmelite Friary. At one point during the bombing in 1940 this was the only working water source in the area.
