Mr Monkey visits China Landscape at the British Museum, 16th May

"Poisoning visitors would be a bad move"

Trotting along the path a few steps Mr Monkey saw a Lacquer Tree (Rhus species) on one side and a Hankerchief Tree (Davida involucrata) on the other. Lacquer trees produce a sap used to make lacquer, but are very poisonous so this is a harmless close relative that won't bring people out in rashes. The Hankerchief, or dove, or ghost, tree has fluttery white leaves in spring; the species is millions of years old but is an endangered species now.
