Mr Monkey in London, 16th May

"It's 80 foot long, you know"

Scampering along the quay Mr Monkey came to the Portwey, which might be the only coal fired twin screw tug in the northern hemisphere that still works. It was built on the Clyde in 1927, and spent most of its working life based in Portland on the south coast of England. A crew of volunteers meet on the tug every Wednesday afternoon and evening, but it was Friday when Mr Monkey saw it.

You can read about the tug at the Steam Tug Portwey website.
