Mr Monkey visits the Museum in Docklands, 17th May

"That's beautiful glass, that is"

Mr Monkey examined a model of the Maunsell forts built out in the Thames Estuary, and learned about the Port of London's involvement in secret projects such as PLUTO (Pipe Line Under The Ocean) and the Mulberry harbours, both essential for the success of the Normandy landings. At the end of the wartime gallery Mr Monkey paused in the contemplative area to look at the glass of War and Peace by the John Patsalides Studio.

You can read about Maunsell forts at the Underground Kent website and about the glass at the John Patsalides website.
