Mr Monkey aboard the Golden Hinde, 15th May

"It's very colourful at this end"

Mr Monkey went around to the stern of the Golden Hinde, which was brightly decorated. At the top the letters E R and the Tudor rose reminded everyone that Elizabeth was queen, the painted golden hind and the motto Cassis Tutis Sima Virtus* reminded everyone that Christopher Hatton, courtier to the queen, was one of Drake's sponsors, and the lion above the rudder was just there for good luck. Looking along the side of the ship, Mr Monkey was glad to see that there was a net to catch anyone who managed to fall off the gangplank.

* Which means Virtue is the Safest Helmet.
