"The winning design was very good"

Mr Monkey saw a display about the Lancashire County Council's Backyard Project. This was a result of the council realising that there were 160,000 paved backyards in Lancashire which could be used for urban gardening. They organised a competition amongst the students of Myerscough College* and built the winning entry at No 7 India Street.

You can read about the Backyard Project at the Lancashire County Council Environmental Directorate website and about the College at the Myerscough College website.

* which is where Mr Rik's sister studied.
