Mr Monkey at the National Railway Museum, 26th February

"It makes a change from being green, you know"

Mr Monkey found another passenger train. The locomotive is a Midland Railway class 115 4-2-2. They were nicknamed Spinners because the single 7 foot 9 inch diameter driving wheel sometimes slipped when starting to pull a heavy train, but appeared to spin gracefully when the train was moving. Mr Monkey thought that the maroon livery made a very pleasant change from all the green engines and carriages.

You can read about the Midland class 115 at the National Preservation website.
