When Mr Monkey got to the very top of the stairs he peered over the bannisters to see that it was a rather long way down to the basement. Then he had a look around the garret. This was where Dr Johnson worked on his famous dictionary. In his time the garret was filled with the books he used to find quotations to show the meaning of words and five or six assistants whose job was to put the quotations in the right places in the dictionary. Now there are some pictures of Dr Johnson and information about the dictionary.
