Mr Monkey trotted across Gough Square to the front door of No. 17. He knew he was definitely at the right place when he saw the red plaque on the front wall, which said Dr Samuel Johnson author. lived here. b. 1709 d.1784. There was also a less permament note on the front door telling all visitors, even monkeys, to go in through the side entrance. When Mr Monkey got to the side door he found that it looked almost exactly like the front door except for the lintel, and having a more welcoming note.
