Mr Monkey jumped through a hatch and found himself in a small room full of controls for the diesel engines. According to the signs the diesels were so loud that it would have been a very bad idea to have crewmen there while they were running. For some reason this had to be done in the dark, so all the dials were very luminous. Mr Monkey peered through the little inspection window to check that the engines were still there.
