Mr Monkey admired the smaller buildings on the west side of the Markt. He was intrigued to see that the Boechoute House had a large compass on its facade. In the 15th century the magistrate of Bruges observed the market from this house. Mr Monkey was a little confused by the compass at first, but decided it was connected to a wind vane and showed the direction of the wind rather than any shifts in the position of the building.
