Mr Monkey found out that the floor of the roof had been raised by a metre when it was strengthened to support heavy guns, so Napoleon's troops wouldn't have been able to see over the top of the walls. He peered through one of the gunslits and found out that infantrymen wouldn't have been able to see much at all. Then he looked over the edge of the inside wall of the tower, and was careful not to fall down into the courtyard
