Mr Monkey went to the west side of the fort, to get a view of the harbour. Peering over the wall he could see Lange Nell, Ostende's famous lighthouse, and a variety of ships waiting to go to sea. Looking a little to the right he spotted old German bunkers on the headland, and the Ooststakelsel pier on the eastern side of the harbour mouth.
