Mr Monkey in London, 4th August

"This is really effective"

Mr Monkey looking at the Fighter Command side of the monument Mr Monkey looking at the Britain at War side of the monument

Mr Monkey took the tube to Westminster and found a monument commemorating the Battle of Britain. The monument is built around an old chimney that used to ventilate the Underground when they used steam trains. The Fighter Command panel shows the pilots, observers, plotters and groundcrew of Fighter Command, while the Britain at War panel shows anti-aircraft gunners, women factory workers, and civilians watching dogfights and searching ruins after air raids.

You can read about the monument at the Battle of Britain Monument website.
