Mr Monkey walks the Peak Forest Canal from Romiley to Marple, 19th April

"It's quite high up, really"

Mr Monkey scurried out onto the aqueduct. In May 1794 work was started on the aqueduct and at both ends of the canal. Water was let into the aqueduct in 1800, after seven years work and seven deaths. Mr Monkey popped into one of the little alcoves in the wall and looked down at the Goyt, 100 feet below him, but mostly he saw trees.
