"It's all a bit grim, you know"

Mr Monkey went into the front room, to examine the temporary exhibition, which was about Dickens's concern with social issues. The exhibition covered several subjects including the abuse of children in Yorkshire boarding schools, the death penalty, fallen women and the breeding of crime in rookeries. Generally, Mr Dickens was against bad things.
