The Chinese Room is called the Chinese Room because Mr L.C. Smith installed an ornate carved wood and porcelain ceiling that he'd been given by the Empress of China. Mr Monkey scurried around the room examining the Chinese furniture and the painted wooden panels. There used to be more panels around the walls, but they were removed when improvements made the room a little smaller.
