Mr Monkey looked at a large photo showing one of Seattle's main commercial streets in the 1880s, then went into the next gallery. In November 1889 Washington Territory finally became a State of the United States of America, but the people of Seattle were probably more concerned with the aftermath of the great fire that burned down most of the commercial district in June 1889. While the fire burned down 100 acres of timber buildings, it apparently didn't burn the glue pot that John Black accidentally started the fire with.
