Mr Monkey wondered why so many of the paintings in Leung Mee-ping's Made in Shenzhen collection seemed to be repeated, until he found out that the artist had commissioned a lot of people to make copies of original paintings. This is in the tradition of 'trade paintings', and explains why each repeated image is slightly different. Traditional trade paintings used to concentrate on images of Hong Kong as a maritime trading centre, but Leung Mee-ping's work reflects modern Hong Kong.
