Mr Monkey's crash helmet was originally a plastic ball rattle thing for cats to chase, with the non-helmet like bits sawn off, and some holes plugged with Milliput.
The visor is from curved plastic from Christmas tree decoration packaging and card, fixed on with plastic rod rivets.
The chin strap is sticky-back plastic and felt, with a buckle from wire. The whole thing was decorated with Humbrol gloss enamel and satin varnish to reduce
the shine a bit.
